Masturbation. Everybody does it so there’s no denying it! The length of time it takes, the techniques used and the frequency all depend entirely on the person. Some people do it every single day, others every second day and some several times a day. It’s all down to personal preference so there is no “right” or “wrong” way of masturbating.
However, a common question a lot of people may ask themselves is: “How long can you go without masturbating?”. Just like the previous statements, the answer is a firm “it depends”. Factors are slightly different here, of course as the sex drive will definitely have a big part to play in it. The amount of time you spend thinking about sex, in general, will also be a big factor.
Length of Time Without Masturbating: Sex and Gender
A common myth is that men think about sex every ten seconds. The male sex drive is also thought to be a lot higher than that of a woman’s: while this can be true in a lot of individual cases, this isn’t always so. However, there is one interesting difference between men and women biologically speaking.
Men don’t just masturbate for pleasure. They also masturbate (or, ideally for nature) to release the build-up of sperm that is produced in the testes. In fact, it is considered healthy for a man to masturbate regularly. Not doing so will just lead to a build-up, and some people even say that it can heighten the risk of prostate cancer.
So, for men, what would be an ideal amount to masturbate? The experts say at least once a day, although it is okay if you skip the odd day (hey, people sometimes get busy with other projects!).
Length of Time Without Masturbating: Women
This can be a little more difficult to determine simply because women do not “ejaculate” in the way that men do. The female orgasm, on the other hand, can bring a wave of pleasure that some say men will never experience. Therefore, masturbation for women can be seen as mainly a pleasurable thing, however, this does not mean it isn’t important!
Whether having sex or masturbating, the brain releases endorphins whenever you cum and/or titillate those sensitive areas. A large number of endorphins in the brain will also lead to a generally good mood and overall happiness.
When it comes to the actual length of time, it can vary hugely with women. Some can go months or even years, others can’t go a single day. The risks that come with avoiding masturbation are much lower for women on a physical level. However, when it comes to mental and emotional happiness it can be considered vital.
There’s nothing wrong with abstaining for a bit to give yourself a bigger thrill. However, it is always important to remember that masturbation is healthy! While there can be such a thing as too much, that threshold can also be pretty high – so happily have a wank every day.
