In the big, wide world of porn, there are seemingly endless categories to satisfy all tastes, quirks and styles. It became more a nostalgic, memory-based experience, rather than solely sexual, to identify with this aspect of lesbian porn.
Most lesbian porn often presents itself as sensual, slow-burned, erotic and fun. There’s an intimacy within the act, as opposed to the sometimes degrading and abrasive style of typical hetero hardcore. The women I’ve encountered in my life have rarely been aroused by hardcore, due to the negative and disadvantaged portrayal of their gender. My partner advised me that in traditional boy-girl, there’s rarely any foreplay, and what, women are expected to fuck on cue, when the man’s ready? It’s almost as if in traditional hetro porn, women hardly have a sexual voice, or point of view. In lesbian porn, however, the roughness, the aggressiveness, is stripped down and time is taken for the performers to become familiar with each other’s bodies. As a result, I’ve found many of my straight male friends liking lesbian porn for this reason. They, too, are tired of women being depicted as meat to be roughed up and shot on, because in reality, sex is hardly like that. Sure, there’s rough sex, and angry sex, and lesbian porn delves into this, but it’s always after familiarising one’s self with another in the raw act. Only then does the emotion drive the sex, and I think couples, at least the couples I know in their early 20s, prefer this. Lesbian porn can be a gateway into viewing sensuality, for both straight men, straight women, and straight couples, to utilise in their sex lives.
