Dragon Boat Races were first held more than 2,000 years ago to commemorate Qu Yuan, the great warrior poet who drowned himself in a river as a form of protest against political corruption.
In slightly more modern times, the races have come to represent a strong sense of patriotism and are used as part of the Lunar New Year celebrations around the world. Luckily for you, you can view these spectacular boats in all their glory this year in Cockle Bay, Darling Harbour. Running from Saturday 28th February until Sunday 1st March, you can see these fantastic 12-metre long boats battling it out and experience the amazing tradition that is Dragon Boat Racing.
